Dr. Costilla also sees patients at UMC Southwest Medical one day a week. She is fellowship trained and board-certified in gastroenterology, and her specialty interest is in providing long-term management of chronic diseases and chronic constipation. Beyond the universal language of caring, Dr. Costilla is also bilingual in English and Spanish.
Dr. Costilla received her Doctor of Medicine from Texas Tech University School of Medicine before completing an Internal Medicine Residency at Mayo Clinic and Gastroenterology Fellowship at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center. She is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

I enjoy spending family time with our dog, Buster Dean. You can often find the whole family in the yard playing with him—he even joins my husband and son in playing soccer!
Screening for colon cancer is the ONLY way to catch, and even prevent it. I always tell patients there are multiple options that can detect colon cancer, but only a colonoscopy can catch polyps and prevent cancer!
